Who said that Maths was boring and dull?
Maurits Cornelis (M.C.) Escher was born in 1898 in The Netherlands. Since he was a child, he was outstanding at drawing although nobody realised about it until he was older. Some years later, Escher discovered the pleasure of travelling, and he started going to Southern countries like Italy or Spain. In these countries, Escher visited its most famous monuments. After that, he come back to The Netherlands and started to draw his own pictures. He died on March 27th 1972 at 73 years of age.
Escher's drawings are a weird but perfect mixture between Arts and Maths. The painter used lots of mathematical concepts like impossible planes. Depth , Three Worlds , Waterfall , Möebious Strip II and Relativity are some of his well-known pictures
In my opinion, Escher enjoyed showing people how to mix two sciences that seemed to be really far away from each other. Not long ago, I went to an Escher exhibition and I would recommend you strongly to visit one of them if you had the chance. Finally , I would like you too to try to find the hidden dimension of each picture.
